Happy hump day everyone!
Some friends of mine are planning an amazing vacation to Scandinavia and hearing about it gave me a serious case of wanderlust. How amazing would it be to go to one of these places:
Four Seasons in Bora Bora
The gardens at Marqueyssac in France
Riomaggiore in Italy
Sky Lantern Festival in Taiwan
Mount Roraima in Venezuela
Preacher’s Rock in Norway
Where would you most like to go?
This post is courtesy of Montonsoup who sent me this link of 50 crazy buildings. I really want to see some of these in person, I can’t believe they exist!
The Crooked House in Sopot, Poland
The Ideal Palace in France- this reminds me of a sand castle for some reason.
Stone House in Portugal- this reminds me of The Hobbit!
Erwin Wurm: House Attack in Austria
For more pictures and details on these buildings, check out this site. There are 50 buildings total and they’re all strange but cool!
I know elevators don’t sound like the most glamorous topic, but I couldn’t believe how cool these ones are! They were featured in BudgetTravel. I’ve been in one of them (the one that goes up the St. Louis Arch!) but I really want to see some of these others…
This elevator in Germany goes THROUGH an aquarium! Pretty sure I would never take the stairs again.
This is the sweet elevator pod you ride in to the top of the Arch. They jam 5 people into this tiny space, so you really get to know your neighbor during the 4 minute ride!
This 499 foot elevator in Switzerland is equal parts beautiful and terrifying!
You can get a good view of Stockholm by taking this little round elevator up the outside of a dome. Reminds me of Epcot Center!
In China, this elevator takes you over 1,000 feet up a sheer cliff! Then you can visit the Sky Walk which looks gorgeous but kind of scary (have you figured out I’m afraid of heights?)
Don’t these pictures make you want to travel? Which elevator was your favorite? If you want to see all of them, the article is here.
Happy Friday! It’s such a nice day out and though I’m stuck at work, I can’t help but daydream about traveling somewhere exciting. Imagine…drinking red wine in a plaza in Barcelona. Or nibbling on cheese in a cafe in Paris. If only!
If your imagination needs help, check out these videos that were made for EF Language Schools. Each one features a different city and encourages you to “live the language.” I think they’re beautiful and really highlight the culture of each city. The Paris one is my favorite:
Doesn’t it make you want to book a flight instantly? I also really like the Beijing one. Those Asian kids are adorable!
Check out the other two videos for Barcelona and London here. I wish they would make one for Italy and Greece as well!
What’s your dream vacation destination?
Tomorrow is the first day of summer, aka the longest day of the year! The weather in Boston has been great lately- hot, humid, and summery. I know some people complain about the heat, but after the never ending winter we’ve had I’m happy to embrace it. This is coming from someone without a/c in their apartment so you KNOW I mean it!
How would you like to spend the longest day of the year lounging at this pool-
The infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore is three times the length of an Olympic size pool and it’s 55 stories up. I’m afraid of heights so the edge freaks me out, but it does offer some amazing views of the city!
Here’s what it looks like from above:
And here’s a video of some people enjoying the pool- jealous!
What’s your favorite summer activity?
