Best Ways to Celebrate Bastille Day

Tomorrow is Bastille Day or, as I like to think of it, the French Fourth of July.   That means it’s also an excuse to celebrate!  Here are some ideas to give your day a little je ne sais quoi…

Slice up a hot baguette, open a bottle of French red, and bust out the cheese board-

Daydream about a  trip to the Gardens of Marqueyssac-

Watch Papillion, one of my favorite movies.  It’s about an innocent man sent to a brutal French penal colony on a remote island.  You can’t go wrong with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman!
 

And finally, find a French doggie to pet!

Louis Vuitton Animals

Louis Vuitton is celebrating their centennial in a pretty unusual way- by fashioning their purses, key chains, and clutches into animal sculptures!   At first glance, you don’t realize what the animals are made of…what a creative idea!

European Dreaming

Happy Friday!  It’s such a nice day out and though I’m stuck at work, I can’t help but daydream about traveling somewhere exciting.  Imagine…drinking red wine in a plaza in Barcelona.  Or nibbling on cheese in a cafe in Paris.  If only!

If your imagination needs help, check out these videos that were made for EF Language Schools.  Each one features a different city and encourages you to “live the language.”  I think they’re beautiful and really highlight the culture of each city.  The Paris one is my favorite:

Doesn’t it make you want to book a flight instantly?  I also really like the Beijing one.  Those Asian kids are adorable!
