Funny Licence Plates

I always thought it’d be fun to have a funny licence plate (mine is just a boring jumble of letters and numbers) so I enjoyed these vanity plates from around the country- and Canada! They’re funny and creative (and some are a little non-PC)

Dog Shaming

I think anyone who owns a dog understands that accidents happen- meaning your library books will get chewed, your shoes will get stolen, and your carpet will get pooped on. Then your dog will look at you with a “who me? wasn’t me!” face and all you can do is laugh.

You can also teach your dog a lesson by submitting their picture to Dog Shaming. I think these are hilarious- don’t some of these dogs look so guilty?

Rain Room

Normally I’m not a fan of installation art- leaving a room empty on purpose, having a few lights go on and off, and calling that art? No thanks. The rain room installation however? Totally awesome.

You approach a room where it’s pouring rain. As soon as you step inside, high-tech cameras ensure the rain stops around you. So you can walk through the pouring rain but you stay totally dry- the water rains around your body.

It has to be seen to be believed, so click on the picture below to check out the video. I would be scared to take that first step into the rain, and it looks like the people in the video also can’t believe they won’t get wet.

Emma the Tiny Donkey

I came across this story about Emma, the tiny donkey with a prosthetic leg, and just had to share. Typically when horses (or donkeys) break a leg, they have to be put down. In Emma’s case, she was born with a deformed leg.

Fortunately, her story has a happy ending. Because she’s a miniature donkey, she doesn’t weigh as much as a horse and a prosthetic leg could support her body weight.

I love donkeys in general, but mini ones are even better! And her poofy bangs in the second picture? So cute!

Hilarious Photo Project

Someone told me yesterday that Christmas is only 90 days away. Insane! Fortunately for you, I already have the perfect stocking stuffer- this World’s Best Father 2013 Calendar, aka funniest calendar I’ve seen in a while.

Dave Engledow started taking creative pictures with his daughter Alice Bee when she was born. What started out as a whim quickly turned into an ongoing photo project. Dave portrays a parody of the father he would never want to become–”distracted, self-absorbed, neglectful, clueless, or even occasionally overbearing.”

Fish Tank Bed- Do Want!

I have a love/hate relationship with fish. I think sharks are fascinating, I can watch Shark Week all day every day! But I hate little fish that dart around unpredictably in the water when I’m trying to swim- they creep me out. The thought of one brushing against me literally makes me skin crawl. It’s a weird phobia!

Looking at fish though, is a whole other story. I love going to aquariums and seeing all the sea life. I think it’s amazing how many different types of fish there are; some of them are so brightly colored they almost look fake. And there’s something very relaxing about aquariums, the water is mesmerizing. Which is why I think this bed would be awesome:

The Bridge to Nowhere

Every once in a while an architect decides to get crazy and build a bridge to nowhere-

This is actually an optical illusion, but it’s still pretty cool! This bridge is in Norway and connects the mainland to an island.

If you view it from another angle, you can see it doesn’t just end abruptly-

I bet people still slow down when approaching it head on though!

Best Ways to Celebrate Bastille Day

Tomorrow is Bastille Day or, as I like to think of it, the French Fourth of July. That means it’s also an excuse to celebrate! Here are some ideas to give your day a little je ne sais quoi…

Slice up a hot baguette, open a bottle of French red, and bust out the cheese board-

Daydream about a trip to the Gardens of Marqueyssac-

Watch Papillion, one of my favorite movies. It’s about an innocent man sent to a brutal French penal colony on a remote island. You can’t go wrong with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman!

And finally, find a French doggie to pet!
